| The GPT-750's are mounted in the wall, cleaned up and the transmitter on the right is on the air on AM. The Transmitter on the left is the one I got from Lawson, W4EMF and it is operational on CW. I'm having trouble locating a modulation transformer for it. Might have to bite the bullet and order one from Peter Dahl. Was a lot of work getting the wall rebuilt but the transmitter was easy to get going. Just cleaning and replacement of one tube (6CL6). |

| Here is the AN/ARC-8 System consisting of the T-47A/ART-13 (Collins) and BC-348Q Receiver (Wells Gardener). Bill used this system as a radio operator aboard a Grumman SA-16 Aircraft in the early 1960s with the Air Rescue Service. He was stationed at Naha AB, Okinawa and flew much of the Pacific. |
|
| Other aircraft that he is aware of that had this system are: B-29, C-47, C-54 and C-97. There are no doubt many others. This was the backbone of airborne HF communications from WW-2 through the 1960s. The transmitter became affectionately know as "THE COLLINS" |
