REAL TUNER
W9OTN worked his magic in placing the components and wiring the tuner. KJ9T wound the coil, which is physically and electrically a duplicate of the coil in a Johnson KW Matchbox. The coil is mounted on a jack bar so that it may be changed to a larger coil for 160M tuning. The Capacitor on the left is 300pf per section. Since the sections are in series the total capacitance is 150pf. A 100pf fixed vacume is added for 160M tuning. The capacitor on the right is the dual differential capacitor extracted from a Johnson KW Matchbox. The coil, as shown, is wound on a 3 inch PVC form cut lengthwise on both sides and 1/4 in spacers are placed in both cuts and held in place by stainless screw clamps. The turns spacing marked on the form and the form covered with waxpaper. Coil wound on the form and a hot glue gun utilized to form the ribs. These ribs are then coated with 5 minute epoxy. I hope that this will be of some help to other builders.
